I will be sailing my 27" down to LA the first week of August and I was wondering if there are any good resources out there on the net where I can find out the price and availability of permanent berthing in the LA area. Thanks for your input, Tom

LA and Long Beach

In LA Harbor there's Cabrillo Beach Marina -- nice facility but not near too much as it's in San Pedro, more toward the actual "working harbor." We're in the Long Beach Downtown/ Shoreline Marina -- one of the best deals in the area. Run by the city, great facilities, walking distance to good restaurants and public transportation. Only downside is that there used to be a long waiting list for 27' berths; we got a 30' berth in a month -- they told me we couldn't slip anything less than a 30' in it but I see plenty around me that don't seem to measure up. Plus that's 30' overll, everything counts, including pulpit overhangs, so you might squeak into a 30' slip if no 27' ones are available. Good luck! Mike Turner S/V Amity

Berths

Go to www.at-la.com/biz/@la-boat.html. San Pedro/Cabrillo Beach Marina is a very good marina that's not located in a downtown setting. I only see container ships (really big ones) when I go sailing!
