I'will like to make a passage in my B-393 from the Solomons Island, Maryland, on the Chesapeake Bay to Bermuda in 2010. My experience has been only on the bay and although I've been exposed to 33-44 knots winds, my blue water experience has beeb to round the last marker of the channel heading to Atlantic. Any advice as to the size of the crew, provision, for a six-day + offshore will be appreciated.

Been thrice to Bermuda in a C&C Landfall 38, 3 was the perfect crew, any more and it got crowded. We once raced to Bermuda and were six onboard... not confortable. Provisioning is no real big deal; keep it simple, unless you are lucky half the crew won't be eating anyway. Lots of water in separate containers, our water tanks once got saltwater in them from the vents... my tanks are now vented to the bilge.
A 30Kt norther in the GS can get quite nasty but the boat will take it easily, it's usually the crew that fails. If it gets really bad don't be shy heave-to, a friend of mine used to heave-to at noon every day to have a sit-down lunch and his glass of red wine no matter what (he crossed the pond 14 times).
Safety is more of an issue: everyone should be tethered at night and pee inside and sitting! That's a hard one on some guys but it beats washing the head with Clorox every day!
