I bent a piece of the turnbuckle/rigging while raising the mast of my Hunter 26. Here's a photo:

How concerned do I need to be?

Thoughts on how/steps/parts to fix? Boat is in a slip so would like to fix at the dock if possible.
Thanks in advance.

You can straighten it but ya risk a crack at the thread root.
Best to replace the entire shroud.

Best not to use it bent because the load cycles will quickly crack it at the top of the turnbuckle body.

I was much too involved with the 26 and top dealer for it. A bent turnbuckle stud has been weakened and trying to straighten out will weaken it worse affecting the integrity of that shroud stud. I would be cautious sailing with it in strong airs. Recommend replacing the whole shroud. That probably happened when raising the mast. At 50-60 % raising the mast up requires one to look making sure the studs or shroud turnbuckles are not caught in a bind. Generally shaking the shroud loosens that problem out

suggest ordering a new shroud. From the picture it looks like it needs to be shorter as there is no room to retune. If that is the same problem with the other shrouds, it is time to replace them all. The last 26 was built in 1997 and yes rigging does stretch over time

The other stays will hold the mast up. I've replaced turnbuckles in the water. You can also tie a halyard to the side of the for extra support while performing work

That can work in some cases, but unfortunately what bent here was the fitting swaged on the shroud, not the turnbuckle. That will require replacement of the shroud. On a big boat a rigger might do that with the mast up, but on a 26 footer just taking the mast down for shroud replacement would be the way to go.

The turnbuckle looks bent as well as the stud. If so might as well put in a replacement in the same repair job.

You're correct. Wrong end of the turnbuckle for a quick swap. Mast needs to come down or a person needs to go up it (if it can be done safely)
