I was sailing my 1978 H27 with my brother in June and we hit bottom. At the time there did not appear to be any problem. We continued to sail for the rest of the summer. However when we took it out of the water, to my horror the rudder post was bent about 5-10 degrees aft. There is also a hairline crack running along the top of the rudder and a small amount of damage to the the leading front lower corner at the rudder bottom. Besides the fact that it looks ugly do I have a serious problem or is it akin to a dent in your car.?One member at my club thinks it is not a big issue provided that any cavities in the rudder can drain before they freeze. He suggests drilling a couple holes near the bottom so it can drain.Another thinks the rudder and post should be taken off and straighten before the boat goes back in the water next spring. He's a racer.Any thoughts by other owners of similar hunters would be appreciated. Thanks Steve H
