Hi Charlie: I have a 94 Oceanis 400 with numerous (hundreds) of cracks meandering all over the hull below the waterline and some progressing above. I store on hard in winter in Toronto.I have been informed by some of the Beneteau repair technicians in the field that this is a direct result of the Beneteau Water Shield experiement from '93 to '96 which Beneteau denies. I have been intouch with about fourty other owners of similar aged Beneteaus all suffering the same problem. Could you advise on your experience in this matter and advise a course of action. We are considering litigation but need a fast fix to stop further progression. Will peeling and epoxy barrier coating solve the problem. I have ground thru the gelcoat to chase out a few cracks only to find a dry layup underneath in the chopped strand layer. Do I have to chase out the cracks till they are gone or is it enough to simply remove the gelcoat then use Epiglass to stabilize the structure prior to epoxy barrier coating. Thanks for any help in advance.
