We have to downsize from a Hunter 36 to something smaller, like at 31-33 footer. Obviously we'll have a choice - probably Hunter vs. Beneteau. Does anyone have any thoughts as to which one is the better, or are they really pretty equal?

The admiral and I looked at a lot of boats before...

deciding on our current model. In terms of value, layout, quality, design, to name a few, we kept coming back to Hunter and we are glad we did. Hunter just seems to do a better job at building quality boats. Terry

downsizing

look at an older hunter 30 " cherubini design" .you will be surprised how much rooom you have in the salon for you and the admiral. I,ll take my 1979 Hunter 30 over a benetea anyday. I have the plugs from my hull when i installed my A/C / Heat unit so i know how thick and solid my hull is. TAke your closed fist and bang on the side of a Benetea then do the same to a hunter , then listen to the different sounds. But to each his own i guess. Best of luck.

depends where you ask

I noticed you asked on both the Hunter and Beneteau forums. I suspect you'll get different answers depending on where/who you ask. They share the same market in terms of design use and cost so the differences can't be that big. In our case, having compared them both, Hunter just seemed the better boat for sailing or just dock living. The rig also allows for a much larger roach main and smaller jib making it both faster and more easily sailed.
