I'm trying to select a suitable rubrail for my 381 but I'm having trouble. I prefer the solid vinyl with the s/s strake. Everything in the Taco and Morse catalogs doesn't have a flat back and also they don't make a suitable end cap. Beneteau has a rubrail on their parts website but nobody there knows the size, cross section and gage of the rail and I don't want to order it blindly. Does anyone know of a suitable rubrail for the B381 by brand and part number? Thanks,
Lee

Lee;
Are you willing to pay for the right solution? Go talk to Buster Phipps at Phipps Boat Works - HHN.

Talk to Ward Richardson at Beneteau Parts. If he is still there, he will know.

Better yet, roll up to Annapolis Yacht Sales and talk to Chris in service. He has two options, the Beneteau rubrail, and his own, made of starboard material. Neither use solid-back SS strikes.

I will do that. In the meantime, if anyone has any pics of a properly installed rubrail on a sailboat I will be interested in seeing them. Thanks,
Lee

Rub rail - installed. If you search the board you will find a previous post where I included material and suppliers.

Maybe it's the angel of the picture, but it looks like the hull prtrudes more than the rubrail? It that your boat?

My boat. It is the angle of the photo. The rubrail is 1.75" and has a .250" SS strike. When planning this install, that extended rubrail seemed too big, but as you can see, once installed it looks proportional.

We now slide down the piles without a worry!

Gunni,
I searched with your name as a filter but nothing with pics and material came up. Can you post the link? Thanks.

Hi Lee;
More pictures and material details were in a post I made in the Ask All Sailors forum on 12-12-12 Thread was "Bow Thruster Options". Can't seem to copy the permalink using the iPad app.

Gunni,
Thanks, I found your post. Very nice. Unfortunately your rail does not come in white but another section No.1010 or 1013 come in white. My question is about how the ends are finished. It looks like the s/s strake is bent around the end. Is it the regular section or did you use the factory ends? A close up of the ends will help me because I'm trying to do this as a DIY personal project. Also the spray rail comes in 20' lengths only. Your installer must have done a great job concealing the connection. Who was your installer in Annapolis? Thanks a lot for all the info.

Lee;
The rail material I used was freight shipped as a +40ft length. It was cut and installed, one piece. The stainless shipped in 21 ft lengths. Both the rail and the SS strike were shaped and installed by Phipps Boatworks, Herrington North.

Gunni,
I found your rail in white and 40' long. Is your boat at HHN or nearby? I would like to take a look at it.
Thanks,
Lee
