It goes down all the time

Unfortunately, the http://www.beneteau-owners.com site goes down all the time and is almost totally hit or miss now. Normally, I would assume a site is offline for good when it's down for weeks on end but I have seen this site go down for this period of time quite often, only to return later. Not sure if they are exceeding their bandwidth and being shut down or if they are experiencing tech problems over and over. The bottom line is the site is probably still around but currently in one of its down spells. Time will tell, however. IF they dont return in a month, it's not a good sign. Too bad, they have some good info if slightly disorganized and not the easiest to navigate. kh http://beneteau235.com

Site is currently back online

The site does seem to be working for now. Still no indication as to why it goes down which is odd. http://www.beneteau-owners.com/ kh

Beneteau Owners Site

Kelly, This site is a volunteer venture of Mark Melvin. There are times when he's not available (out sailing) to do maintenace, so it's not as stable as a site with paid staff. Having said that, the site has a lot of great information and has been a valuable resourse for me.

All true but...

Well, I agree that it's a valuable resource. On the other hand, I have been runnng hobby sites as well since the mid 90s for various personal interests, one just happening to be beneteau related, dedicated to the Beneteau First 235 - See http://beneteau235.com . This is a pretty large site too with a forum as well, though not of the more massive dbase nature of the owners site. It is quite rare for any site to be down for hours let alone weeks, whether a hobby site or not. I do commend Mark for the large undertaking - I have been to his site many a time. Sure wish the tech issues could be resolved without it going totally offline, though. He needs another volunteer while out on the water! Regardless, it IS a great resource and a nice format in that it gives owners a chance for submissions (just like this site). I hope to see it become more reliable as well. kh Beneteau First 235 http://beneteau235.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This site is a volunteer venture of Mark Melvin.
