I would like to install either davits or an arch on my 2000 Beneteau Ocenais 400CC. While I originally leaned toward the arch (perhaps the Atlantic model) it seems there is very limited mounting space and not sure they look great on the center cockpit. The Martek 600 davits appears to be a good fit although I am not sure the aft rail can handle the weight without reinforcement. I would like to mount solar panels as well.

If you own this model or something similar I would really appreciate your thoughts, advice, and any photos. My dinghy is a 9' AB Ventus with a 9.8hp Tohatsu OB.

Thanks. Jay

Cheers

Hey Nigel,
I saw the Martek's on a 2000 40CC and they seemed to be fine. They were mounted high meaning the bottom support was very near the top of the transom. The owner had fabricated a custom cross bar to which he mounted two good size solar panels using Magma grill rail mounts. I think you could do similar with their crossbar but it tends to be attached very far aft on the davits. These allowed him to rotate the panels to align with the sun if desired. Overall seemed like a really nice setup. My concerns with any setup are losing accessibility and headroom to the transom steps and the aesthetics with the center cockpit. I believe the Martek's have an extension which can make them slightly taller.

Sure would love to hear from someone using them on an Oceanis! The other concern with the Martek's is whether additional support is required.

Regards, Jay
