I have bought a First Class 8. Did the design originally include an insert to slot in the cockpit to stop water washing in through the open stern? Any ideas where to get one if so? Or is it now a matter of DIY? It's to be used when sitting in the cockpit at our buoy mooring if it's a bit choppy - it's nice to keep dry feet!

Nice boat. Under 99% of conditions, you should expect NO water to come thru the open transom.

At your buoy, I'd expect your boat to sit nose to wind, with the transom riding clear in the waves.

Thanks Jackdaw - the stern seems to sit a bit lower in the water than that. Maybe it is just a question of adjusting the weight distribution. There is currently an outboard motor (a bit larger than necessary perhaps) permanently mounted. Maybe some things in the cabin to shift around as well. Thanks ...
