Beneteau First 35s5 vs Oceanis 351

After 3 years sailing on a Hunter 23 it's time for me to make the step and I'm currently shopping for a second hand sailboat in the 35ft range.

I'm currently looking at two boats. A 1993 First 35S5 and a 1995 Oceanis 351.
The Oceanis is newer but has some issues. There is some crazing above and below the waterline and there is a crack in the mast (that has been welded once already but has come back).

According to the broker, the mast crack can be welded easily and the crazing is a typical Oceanis 351 problem as the hull is designed at the thin side.

This made me thinking about the 35S5. I understood that the First 35S5 is the predecessor of the Oceanis 351. Is there somebody that can enlighten me a bit more about any modifications in design that were made to change the 35S5 to the Oceanis 351?

Should I be worried that the 35S5 hull is designed too thin as well?

Any other comments or bad/good experiences with both models are very welcome.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

B35s5 versus Oceanis 351

I am not an expert but it is my understanding that Beneteau has two series: the First series and Oceanis series. The First series are racer/cruisers and the Oceanis series are primarily cruisers. I own a 1993 B35s5 and while I don't race I find it fast and a great boat.

I own a 35s5 for 2 years now and I'm very pleased with her. She is a fast going yacht and the handling is sporty but easy.
