Hi. I recently purchased a Beneteau First 26 (1984 model), and have some unansvered questions regarding a couple of design sollutions.. -1. The boat has two brackets on the side of the hull (one on each side), that I suspect is for attaching some kind of support mechanism to keep the boat upright during low tides. But I have been unable to find any information or pictures regarding this. If anyone have any information or pictures of this, I'd love to see it.. -2. This particular boat has a swing keel, and I'm curious as to how this system would react in a knockdown situation. The keel is only held down by it's own weight, and in the event the boat would tip over, it looks like nothing is stopping the keel from smashing right trough the hull. Any information regarding this design sollution would be of interest. -3. If other First 26 owners have any general tips or issues, I'd be glad to hear them. Best Regards Cerveza

Re. Side brackets

I live in Nova Scotia, and our Bay of Fundy has the largest tides in the world. Its common for people to use these side brackets or by Boats that have double shoal keel configurations so that they can lie upright at low tide(as in no water at all). I will see if I can come up with a picture, but I have nothing on me at the moment. You may want to see if you can find a yacht shop in Digby, NS, because I know they are on the Bay of Fundy. Good luck.

Side brackets

Just having confirmed what the brackets are for is great, don't worry ro much about any pictures.. I think we have about 30cm difference between low and high tide where I live, so it won't be a top priority to get these sidebrackets working anyway..
