Beneteau First 235 Barnegat Bay
Just bought an '89 First 235, and am concerned with pumping water. The boat has a manual pump mounted in the cockpit lazarette, but I was thinking about an automatic bilge pump. The bilge is so shallow that there's no room for a standard bilge pump under the floor boards. Anyone have ideas about this? Also the gusher pump hose is cut in several places and the previous owner coiled up the hose and stuck it in the battery compartment. Anyone know where this hose is supposed to originate?

Pull the floor boards. The hose originates just above the keel.
And you are so correct, therre is very little bilge space.
I found the books of very little use, you just have to dig around.

Beneteau 323 Ipswich .. East Coast
Bilge Pump

Hi

We have a 323 .. Similar setup with a coil of tubing in the bilges . We have had ours nearly 3 years and I have not found any water in the bilges . We close all sea cocks when we leave the boat so there are no nasty suprises . Even close the one on the shaft seal .

Think you may be wasting your time fitting one ..
