No question here, just a comment. My wife and I were on an East Coast driving vacation last week and spent some time in Myrtle Beach N.C. Beneteau USA is about an hour from Myrtle Beach and as Midwestern owners of a Beneteau OC 281, I thought it would be interesting to see how Beneteau built boats. I called the plant and they said that they needed about 3 days to schedule a tour and we made an appointment. We were accompanied on the tour by a couple from Canada who had flown in to see their new 473 under construction. Ward R. a Beneteau customer service representative escorted us through the plant and was able to answer all our questions. It was absolutely fascinating to watch new boats being built from the first layer of gelcote on a mold through the construction/installation of galleys, heads, bulkheads etc. to the finished products ready to load on trucks for delivery. We really got a feeling of the Beneteau quality and would urge anyone who may get into the Marion S. C. area to contact Beneteau about a tour. Thanks to Beneteau for taking the time to show us around.

Bill, I think one of the biggest benefits of taking a tour like the one at Beneteau is that you get a greater understanding of how your boat was built and the constuction. You can have a better idea of how the wiring and plumbing was run. How everything is bonded, the construction of the stringers and how the deck is secured. The more we understand and know our boats the better we will be able to maintain them and spot potential problems before they actually become a problem. Charlie Gruetzner
