Update on 2 393 questions:
1/ bowthruster for 393
2/cabin conversion from charter: 3 cabin to owners: 2 cabin
1/ bowthruster for 393
Because of lack of space in front of boat/under waterline to correctly position 185mm tunnel we have 'bulged' the hull out beneath the tunnel. This allows it to be the correct distance below the waterline without sacrificing tunnel/thruster size and power.
Boat still out of the water, battery/power install not yet complete but will keep you posted.
2/cabin conversion from charter: 3 cabin to owners: 2 cabin
This was doing our heads in - we have 3 cabin version but found that none of the berths were big enough to sleep comfortably in 'a deux'. Other problem was that with cockpit locker on 3 cabin version (absent on 2 cabin one), even if you did knock down the partition (againsta advice from Beneteau) you would have almost no head room at the rear of the converted aft cabin which then is also very dark and cramped.
What we've done is to make fold out support, support fittings and custom made mattress to enlarge berth in forward cabin. While 'up' the only disadvantage to this arrangement is that you cannot accede to forward head but since you have the other one accessible from saloon, it is not a problem. In addition, you have a high ceiling, well lit and airy cabin much more comfortable to sleep in.
Plenty of room - I am just under 5' 10" - hubby 6' 1".
Also, have had cut out foam with zip on covers (x2) made. This eliminates need for sheets - you just zip off and wash - and also eliminates the very annoying wrinkly sheet syndrome
Any questions happily answered.
