I read this forum often and get great information from it. Sometimes the information is a little over my head or not directly applicable to my situation. I have a Beneteau 323 and noticed there are 38 other 323 owners listed in the directory. I am also still a little confused by the forum's new structure but I see under our profiles we can "make friends". I don't want to bore everyone on the forum with my 323 specific questions. Now comes the pathetic part, does any Beneteau 323 owner want to become my friend and discuss with me a few 323 specific questions? I might even have some knowledge to share as well. I am not sure how this is done but I think you go to the person's profile page and click where it say to befriend this person. :) Mike

Mike, I suspect that there are very few problems unique to a B323. There will of course be a few, such as the layout of the cabin furniture, but the overall operation of a sloop doesn't change very much from one flavor to another.

As Ross has pointed out, most of the problems on any sailboat, are generally going to be non-specific to that particular make and model. Posting your questions in the Ask All Sailors forum can't hurt. If it the post ends up being specific to the B323, one of the mods can move it. :)

I have a 323 on Lake Michigan and would be happy to converse with you. There are no real problems with the 323, but perhaps some "tricks of the trade" to be gained.

Somehow this thread got moved and I lost it for a couple of days. I am also a Beneteau 323 owner and always happy to swap information with others. I will subscribe to this thread, though I don't check sailboatowners.com as often as Sailnet, because of the new structure. I will get the hang of it though. I really like my 323, though I have one question for the rest of you. One thing that I think would be a big improvement on the boat is to have a clear cover over the engine control panel. Has anyone done this and have any helpful recommendations?

Ted:

I don't have a solution for a cover. I know Beneteau changed the panel location in newer boats. I'd like to find a place to relocate the panel so that I didn't have to stand on my head to read the instruments..

Doug, my boat is an 06, and it has the engine panel on the coaming, just above the gas locker lid. I take it yours is at foot height? I'd like a cover on it since people lean against it with their back or kick it with their heel if they are sitting on the stern rail seat.

Mike, My Dad and I have only had our Bene 323 for a year, but I have sailed most of my life and we have had 3 boats in the same size range. Any help I can be would be great. It sounds like your hooked in with Ron, and hopefully you have joined the Bene 323 specific mailing list and heard about the upcoming website.

Give me a shout if you have any questions.

Cheers,

Dan
