BENETEAU 323 M.D.R.
Prop. Help. I am considering changing my fixed prop on my BENETEAU 323 and would appreciate any input, info, and advice from people who have changed, or even just researched. Thanks all!

If you have not seen this site, " Beneteau323owners.net " is for us 323 people.

I put on a Gori two-blade folding prop last July. I'm happy with it. I think reverse prop walk is less. I installed it myself. You would probably get a 16-inch, but the pitch would vary depending on your engine horsepower rating. I believe my 2006, 22 hp is a 13pitch. Check AB Marine, www.AB-Marine.com

iI checked with maxprop. They recommended a 2 blade 15 inch dia x 11inch pitch or a 3 blade 15 inch dia. x 10m inch pitch. thhis on a B323 with a Yanmar 2GM20.

The fixed 2 blade is a pain when trying to dock in a starboard tieup.

Flex-O-Fold 3 Blade

We have a Flex-O-Fold 3 Blade prop, and we find that it gives us plenty of power. We can get up to 6.8 to 7 knots on the engine. We are also happy with our sailing performance. I have heard estimates that a folding prop will gain you anywhere from .5 - 1 knot in performance. Obviously the 2 blade folding props allow for less drag than the Flex-O-Fold 3 blade, but may be less powerful under engine - and maybe more issues with prop walk.
