I race our Beneteau 311 Lift keel, (fixed) prop on Lake Windermere and seem to be struggling with our current handicap of 1106. Does anyone else race the lift keel on a regular basis. There is a lot of info around for 311 fins but not the lift keel as most seems to be cruised as opposed to racing round the cans.

I don't have any information on handicapping. It does not seem as though there would be a disadvantage over a fixed keel. The fixed prop is a drag though. If you have in mast furling, you are giving up some sail area over a conventional rig.

Just curious are you on the Lake Windermere in Cumbria? I was just there two weeks ago. What a beautiful place! Wish I would have had an opportunity to sail there, even if was raining for the entire week.

Cheers for the reply. There is a difference both in underwater profile and 600kg extra ballast which makes a difference. Yes we are on Windermere, a lovely place to sail both in summer and winter. We have had more than our fair share of rain this season but gladly it's normally mixed with plenty of sunshine!
