I have a new boat, and I want someone to bend the pulpit from my old boat, so the pulpit will fit my new boat. I do not
want to try bending the pulpit my self, I want it done by a
professional. The beam on my new boat, is smaller than on
my old boat.

Thanks,

Don

I live in Sacramento, Calif.

How much do you have to bend it? inch's.....call an electrician thats familiar with bending conduit.....I taped stainless tubing with duct tape and used a standard conduit bender to fabricate some stuff on my boat and a friends and it looks no different than the original equipment and if you have to just tweak it to fit it shouldn't be that difficult

I have bent 7/8" tubing successfully using a mandrel(a long spring that fits snugly inside the tubing) to keep it from collapsing and a one inch conduit bender. I found that unless you have the right tools you can kink it. I am an electrician with years of experience bending soft conduit. If you are bending SS just slightly it should be alright.

If you want professional and accurate, seek out a boiler / heat exchanger repair shop as they will have the proper bending jigs, tubing 'workers' etc.

There is no possible way, to get anything inside the s.s. tubing of the pulpit. Could a professional heat the tubing, and slowly bend
it to the new shape required? I do not want to try something like
this myself, and screw it up. This pulpit is very expensive, and if
it can be bent, it be perfect for my new boat.

Thanks for your reply,

Don

I just went out in the rain, and took some measurements. The outside to outside measurement at the deck, were the pulpit will
mounted on my old boat is 24 inches. To fit my new boat, this
must be reduced to 10 inches.

When faced with this situation, I went to a marine canvas shop. They bend ss tubing all the time when making biminis and dodgers. If you have not yet bought the tubing, they may also stock what you need. Nice thing about them is that they are familiar with boats already.

Thanks for your reply, but you must not have read my orginal post. I have a pulpit from a old boat, I want to use on my new boat.

Thanks again, but can a canvas shop bend my old pulpit to fit my
new boat, that is the question.

The outside to outside of the mounting bracket at the deck on my old boat is 24 inches. This must be reduced to 10 inches to
fit on my beautiful new boat.

Once the pulpit is welded together your ability to bend it is pretty limited and it will most like change the angles of the mounting pads so they don't sit correctly on the deck

I weld SS for a living and i think i would cut out the center section and move everything together and use the old tubing OR they sell a pre bent part called a bow form that you can use to put it back together
