Hi guys! I have the chance to put my hands on a 1989 ben first 285! Can someone tell me more about this boat! Is it a weekend sailer or I could for example leave from canada and sail all the way down to the bahamas?

The 285 is a very well regarded boat. It might be a bit light for that sort of trip but that would end up being more about you and less about the boat. If you are really interested, you should sign up at the following web site and ask there in the 285 forum. MANY 285 owners active there. The site is mainly focused on the First 235 but there is a big 285 section as many 235 owner have moved up to the 285.
