It's been about six months since I posted anything. Summer was a big let down for me, as I injured my back. Am feeling much better after some non-surgical intense chiropractic treatment (seriously better). Anyway, we went out this last Saturday to see how my back would take the motion, and had a GLORIOUS day on the water. 7-12 knot winds and sunny.
Passed an Islander 36 like it was standing still, and the I36 captain accused me of motoring! My back didn't bother me much at all.
The week before the sail, I changed the oil, the filters, the exchanger zinc (you ALL know about that one, right?), sealed two chainplates that were leaking, and cleaned the engine tray. That last one was because the fresh water pump self destructed back in July, last time I was out, and took out the inlet hose! Little black bits of rubber everywhere. Luckily, I shut her down in time, and got the through hull closed before loads of water came in.
The new (spare) pump was under the dinette, and the diesel shop was down the road, so hose was available. Two hours later, and we got under way again.
Then my "hiatus..."
Anyway, very little sailing this sumer, but the boat is in top shape for the winter, and I may take in a couple races (cruising class). But look out 2011!
