Catalina 30 Wickford
Hello All,

I just bought a 1981 Catalina 30 this summer, and one of my winter projects needs to be re-bedding much of the deck hardware. I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation on what bedding compound is best. I've heard that Butyl tape works well, and was considering using it over something like 4200.

Thanks,
John

Yes, I used out everywhere in my 30. I also counter sunk all the holes a we bit to give it somewhere to flow.....so far so good

Definitely butyl tape. As you say you are considering it "over" 4200, you mean instead of?

Check out Musing with Maine Sail on this site under featured contributers. He has a sticky that is the best rebedding pictorial out there. He also sells the butyl tape.

Yes, I meant instead of 4200, sorry. I also had read that countersinking is very effective and was planning on that as well. Thanks!
