Beckson recommend using 100% silicone as a sealant. I don't like using silicone. What sealant have others used?
Thanks. RBilly

I agree on silicone, don't like it anywhere. EXCEPT on my Beckson ports. They are the only place I use it. If you think about the way they are built and installed, silicone makes sense, plus it works with their plastic. I removed, replaced and rebedded most of the eight of mine. I suggest you use silicone only for them. I am a great fan of butyl but it's hard to get it in the tiny space between the port protrusion and the outside layer of fiberglass.

Only nut jobs put silicone on their boats and ................... oh wait. Catalina, Hunter, and I suspect many other boat manufacturers use DC 795 to adhese and seal their frameless, non opening ports and hatches.

DC 795 is silicone ! See the product information from Dow Corning.

Many boats have more silicone sealant on them than any other sealant and it does a great job. I have twenty-one year old DC795 exposed to the elements 24/7/365 and it can pass for new.
