Our kids moved to Rogers, Arkansas, and so far from Lake Erie. I have found reference to a sailing club on Beaver Lake here in the archives. But I cannot find anything on Google except that there is a club. Is there good sailing on Beaver Lake? Is there a marina that rents? Planning a trip first week of March and would love to sail with the grandkids again. Thanks.

Ed , even if you

can't sail, you will be visiting one of the most beautiful places on earth. You can visit Eureka Springs, Branson, and all the other beautiful places in the Ozarks. I am from Ark and went to school in Fayetteville. Your kids will probably be afraid you might like it too much and stay forever.

Hi Ron, second trip.

We were there in October and had a great time. Went to Branson and had a picnic on Beaver Lake. And that prompted this note because all that I saw were fishing and ski boats. I think you have to get closer to the dam, and farther from Rogers. Also drove through the UA campus and visited Sam's first store in Bentonville. Beautiful country but too far from big water. :)

Sailing on Beaver lake

I sailed with a friend in a regatta there last summer and have been there a number of times before and since. It seems as if their website is down as of the moment. If you want to contact me directly, I'll see that a message gets through to one of their members. The marina for the club has about 50-60 sailboats at the docks. It is a private club, so don't know about renting. beaver Lake is a beautiful place to sail, although it doesn't get the open winds that we get on Stockton. Love those corps of engineer lakes. March, the water is still a bit cold, but if you like spring sailing...

Here's the skinny

My home port-BLSC=Beaver Lake Sailing Club. Some of the prettiest water and shoreline you can find but the winds can be tricky in the mountains and valleys. The sailing club is located in the Lost Bridge Area close to Lost Bridge South Recreation area. This will give you an idea of how fingery the lake is..North rec area is about 3 miles by car, 8 by boat!. The club has periodic races, 3 major races, and a major fund raising race in the fall. If you want to know more, call Commodore J. at 479-442-3682 or email me through this website. (s/v Top Secret)

Thanks Andy and Jake.

See you there in March. I really appreciate your help and Andy's e-mail. I know about "sailing in a bowl", the small lakes near my Canton, OH home are like that.
