Retractable Keel Cruisers*

I was impressed with a Krogen 38 yesterday. So now I'm stuck wondering if there are other boats like it... Capable of cruising with a retractable keel or shoal draft not much more than 3"??

I never really liked the idea of the retractable boards b/c i figured you really need the keel for stability. But from what i have been reading it's not as important as i had thought. I want to be able to go in shallow water, but i want the safety of a monohull.

Anybody have any input on boats like this ??

There have to be more than this krogen. You would think someone would have a list of shoal draft cruisers.

"Southerly" have been making ocean going, retractable keel yachts for quite some time.
I think their biggest is about 46ft.

I guess I'll clear that up for you... A draft, retractable or not, around 3 feet.

Sorry I'm normally tired when i post.

Thanks for everyone who has contributed, HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

I'm still interested in everyone's thoughts on how stable and worthy of cruising this type of boat is.. please feel free to contribute.
