I have a 2008 Kuuma bbq gas grill. Burner tube is rusting and the regulator is acting up.
Kuuma was bought by Camco and they discontinued this grill and have no parts.

Why cant I gut the regulator and burner tube and install something similar in size? It's an 18" burner tube originally rated for 16,000 btu's

Is this rocket science?

Not rocket science. I did a similar replacement on my home grill last year and it worked out just fine. I liked my grill enough that it was well worth the effort to me. It does take a bit of research to find the correct size and shape burner, but with a little persistance……….

A friend & I bought identical Kuuma gas grills and both of our regulators failed. Mine would not shut off. Kuuma replaced both of them for us. My burner tube is a bit rusty, but I think that is the nature of the beast. I think the heat is what causes the rust because even my BBQ at home exhibits the same rusting of the burner.

To answer your question, yes I do think you can replace the burner tube and regulator with an equivalent. Not rocket science.

there is nothing special about the components of a grill, except how all the ready made parts fit together.
you can make a burner tube if necessary, but if there is something of the right size on the market, retrofit it. you can take a long one and cut it off and fold the end over if necessary,
I thought kuuma grills were built for the marine enviroment, so the tube shouldnt be "rusting"... make sure the replacement is stainless to prevent the rust..
