I have seen several boats with small BBQ grills mounted on their railings. Where can I find one of these wonderful items?!?!?!?! Cheers! Lance

Neat, but...

Do all the homework, too. The BBQ is neat, but you gotta get the mount bracket, and you probably gotta get a cover. They hit you hard for the unit, amazingly hard for the accessories. That said, it is nice equipment. Might also find one (or some of those other parts I mention) used somewhere. Tim Brogan April IV C350 #68 Seattle

Various Models

Magma and Force 10 are two that have been around for many years. West Marine has two new larger home style BBQ that are big but just weigh a ton, they are better for large power boats however our slip mate mounted the smaller one (Newporter) on his aft port rail on a C34. The problem with that is that it must be mounted directly over the top of the rail and if you have stern rails seats, it impedes the person from comfortably siting. I had a small round Magma for 15 years on C27 and it was good but you have to deal with the lid all the time and it was too small for more than a few steaks at a time. We recently went with the large Force 10 with integrated fold back top and wood tray for our C36, it was much lighter than the new West Marine Newporter and half the price. It works fine and since it is so light, it can be mounted on an 6 inch mounting clamp that takes the whole unit outboard of the stern rail to allow comfortable seating on stern rail seats. Hope this helps, I was going to use Defender but was able to match the price at West Marine and the sales tax/shipping was a wash. Instant gradification for first trip to Catalina with new to us C36. Also check out the Party Size round Magma, they also mount outboard of your stern or side rails and if attached to vertical stanchions - this model gives more versatile positioning. I wish Magma would make a square BBQ of the same weight and general size of the round Pary sizce with attached lid. I guess thats what they tried to do with the Newporter but made it to heavy (IMO).

My wife and I just love our Magma Party Size

The food cooks exceptionally fast. Due to the round shape, heat is distributed evenly.

Smokey Joe

If the price of the stainless steel, Magma-type models scares you away, I used a Weber Smokey Joe that I mounted on a Magma rail-mount bracket for years, without any problems. You have to drill a hole in the bottom to mount the bracket, but that's about it. Also, you'll need to add a cable tether to the lid and fashion some sort of hook for it.
