Bayard: I can't find the info that you mentioned in you response to my question about airconditioning a C-22 by modifying a 5000 BTU window air conditioner, a few weeks ago. I did spend a few hours looking at the Sailnet messages, but never found much on it. Actually, I found some good information by looking at the archives from this forum for boats a little larger than ours. Anyway, if you could help me find the modification info, I would really appreciate it. I don't need to invent the wheel, if someone else has already done it. I really enjoyed your responses to the Fin vs. Wing Keel question, both of them. Thanks, Aldo

Aldo, I think person to address is:

The gentelman's name is Bob and he has a C-22 called For Sail on which he recently installed air conditioning. I think if you could put your question onto the Sailnet site, possibly directed to Bob of For Sail you may find some answers. I must also admit that in between the two sites, I am getting confused as to who seems to have the most information over what subjects. There is also another gentleman "Skip" who has a C-22 called Slow Flight. Please pardon me for not recalling how to spell his last name. Nevertheless, I beleive "Skip" has sound electrical experience and he maybe able to answere your questions. Agian, I think it may be best to post the question on the Sailnet site and possibly direct it to "Skip" of Slow Flight.

Thanks, Bayard

Thanks, Bayard. I hope I can return the favor and help you sometime. I plan on documenting my work on this project, by taking lots of photos. It's still not easy for me to cut holes into my boat, or add weight to it, but were so used to air conditioning, and we usually do have 4 sleeping in our boat, so I'm going to try to work on this over the winter. Thanks again, Aldo

Thanks Rick

Rick: Thanks for the article. It certainly discussed several issues that have been on my mind relative to this project. I think when the author is discussing a "small" boat, he is probably talking about a boat a lot bigger than a C-22. Have you ever seen a C-22 with air conditioning in Louisana? Thanks again for thinking of me. Aldo

window unit

The only time I have seen a Catalina 22 with air conditioning was a small window unit hanging out of the companionway running on shore power. Good luck with your project and definitely take pictures of the undertaking. Rick
