My 1995 29.5 plywood battery shelf has delaminated to the point it needs replacing. I can't get the forward edge to separate from its support. Anyone have a tip or trick for removing the old shelf?

Hey there, I'm Just checking in and saying HI.
I noticed you posted your query in the Hunter forum. You list your boat as a Cataina 30, so I'm confused.

You might have a greater number of responses if you post the query in "Ask All Sailors".
Pictures of your problem also help. You may get a solution from someone with cabinet skills but who owns a Bristol 32.

Good Luck

Wood chisel and hammer. It’s probably screwed and glued.

Is the shelf tabbed to the hull? 5200?
If it's the ladder the plywood may need to be peeled off in layers. My father had an 8 pound sledge which he dubbed "The persuader ." "Course he was a hammer guy and I'm not saying he didn't break stuff fixing it.

I've done a bit of fiberglass and wood removal on my boat.
If it is round I use a hole saw.
If it is flat/straight I use an oscillating saw. If I'm cutting a protrusion off of a flat surface I use a flat blade wider than the protrusion and hold it flat against the surface. That helps to prevent damage to the surface.
