Battery Question

I have a engine battery and a dinghy battery that Exactly alike. I have them connected in parallel so I can keep the dinghy battery charged.

Question: When I have the dinghy battery unhooked from the engine battery is it OK to the run the engine and/or the 110v battery charger? Or will it harm the engine battery if the ends of the battery cables that go to the dinghy battery are not connected to anything but connected to the engine battery?

not a problem (unless the loose ends short). Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

just make sure the loose ends are not connected to any thing and they can't short out on something ..best to disconnect the + cable when you do that
