I am looking for a hanging lamp that I can attach on a bracket to the post above the table in my H336. I would like a downward beam, a flood light I suppose, for playing cards and other evening activities. I would like it to be powered by D cell batteries or some such thing. I can find nothing on the web nor at West Marine. Any suggestions? Thanks for any assistance. Rodney S/V Avanti

Or try Coleman

They have a web site where you can browse their products, order online and a store locator on their site. http://www.coleman.com

Oil Lamps

They may be old fashioned and mostly decorative, but oil lamps are also functional. WM and other suppliers have a selection of gimballed or hanging oil lamps that provide more than enough light for playing cards and other after dinner activities. They are also beautiful, romantic and very nautical.

With oil lamps use...

...an oil called Ultra Pure. There will be no smoke or smell. They also remove dampness and provide some warmth on a cool, damp day. You have to look around for it. It's in the nautical stores for a high price, but many hardware stores carry the same stuff for a lot cheaper.

Oil is all I can find

Thanks guys. I have been to Coleman, West, Camping World, Weems and Plath, and have been "googling" away but can find nothing to suit my needs other than oil. I do not just want to hang a flashlight up over the table. I want a nice brass fixture and there seems to be nothing out there. Thanks to any of you who thought about it for me. Here I am in Virginia with 6 inches of snow and by boat is nice and warm at Burnt Store. Bummer. Happy Sailing, Rodney S/V Avanti

I Can Picure the Light You are Looking For

Something like thirty years ago as a Boy Scouts we all had these 6 volt lanterns. They were mounted on a white vinyl coated wire swivel bracket with a square foot on the bottom that the light could stand on or more importantly here you could hang over a line. We did that often to play cards. I think they were made by Rayovac. I'll look and see if they are still available somewhere. Or if you’re ever in Hawaii knock on Mom's door there is probably a couple in the closet there somewhere. I found this one at this link it works well too but is not the one I was thinking of, take a look anyway.
