Battery placement

I have an '89 Hunter 28 “Haukuna Matata”, which I have recently purchased. Since the first time that I saw the boat I have noticed that she lists slightly to starboard. The only significantly heavy item on the starboard side of the boat are the pair of batteries, which appear to be factory installed. However, I have not been able to find any documentation supporting this. Can anyone help me by telling me the placement of their batteries on their similar Hunter 28’s? With this, if anyone has any suggestions on relocating the batteries to a new location that has proven to work better on this model please let me know. If you would like to see pictures of the boat please visit my boats web site at www.vfmagic.com/hakunamatata. Thanks, Terrance Maloney…

My H 28 lists also

Terrance -- I have an '89 28 which also has that familiar starboard tilt. I have two batteries placed side by side in the top-loading storage bin just aft of the sink in the head. I have not been able to determine why the boat has that starboard list. I think I may have read that later model (early 90's) Hunter 28 had the batteries in the aft cabin locker (port side), so that could be a design change prompted by the lisyt arising from the 89 layout. I'm interested to hear from other H 28 owners.
