Has anyone replaced the 8D's with other battery sizes, such as golf cart batteries (T105 equivalent)? Any experiences to comment on regarding cabling changes, bracing, reserve capacity, etc.?
We didnt replace the 8Ds, but added two additional under the center seat in the galley on our Legend 430. It has solved all our probs Dick McKee S/V Constellation
I had installed an 8D battery but was never satisfied with the results. I removed it and installed 4 golf cart batteries, purchased from Sam's Club, and they have been outstanding. No more low voltage after a day or two at anchor. I use approximately 185 AH per day.
I'm in the process of copying a friend who also has a P42. He has added 3 golf cart under the seat in the salon with a fourth just aft of the shower sum. this adds 400 additional AH.
