I use a solar charger for my 26' O'Day, which has two batteries connected to a Bat 1, Bat 2 or Both switch. I keep the solar panel connected directly to one of the batteries at all times but then have to physically switch back and forth between the two to keep them both charged. I recently read that when you set the battery selector to Both then the battery with more charge will drain into the other until they are at the same level. Is that correct and if so is this a way to move the solar charge into both batteries. Any other ways I should know about? Thanks!

Combiner

Jonathan - You are correct - connect the batteries and the more fully charged one will try to charge the less charged one. This is a real problem since no two batteries are exactly the same after use and so one will never fully charge. The device you are looking for is called a battery combiner. Its available at West Marine or similar. Justin - O'day Owners' Web
