I am thinking seriously about buying a 93 Hunter 28.Did this boat come standard with a Battery charger? If so where is it located in the boat.If not,Is Hunter the only place to buy them so they are original equipment and fit in the designated place for the boat. Thanks

battery chargers

I'm not sure if a battery charger came as standard equipment but I think not. It does not matter, any battery charger that fits your needs will do the job after you know what amps you will need. I would suggest a "smart charger" that will charge based on need and keep you at a "float" charge. They can be purchased at any marine supply store (or web site/catalog)I would guess you will want a 15 or 20 amp model. Mounting should be near the battery and battery switch so that you don't run long wire runs to the battery.I don't have a 28 but mine is mounted in the starboard aft lazaret.(same compartment as bateries and switch, original manufactures location)You will need to hook up a 110 power supply to the charger off master (110 side) electrical panel. If you want to get real fancy you could go with a charger/inverter and have 110 power (limited) while away from the dock.(much more pricey option)Good Luck ! !

Don't think that they were Std. Equipment!

Paul: I do not believe that they were standard equipment. When you look around, you should get one that is a smart charger. I recommend that you look at Statpower if you are looking for a charger only. They make a 20 and 40 unit. If you want to upgrade beyond this you may want to look at an Inverter/Charger Combo. Heart Interface is a very good choice here. Be sure that if you go with an Inverter, that you get one that is big enough to handle the startup load for specific appliances that you may want to run (coffee pot, microwave, drills, motors, etc). You can find the Statpower and Heart Interface on the Xantrex web site. (http://www.xantrex.com/)
