Hi folks, I had answered another post with this same info, wanted to get it out there for everyone. Hi folks, was at a Bass Pro store the other day, saw a battery box I thought was pretty cool. Was wondering if anyone else has seen it and if so did you think it was worth it. It is a battery box that the lid, (or top) has a cable connection which hooks to the battery in order to connect your charger to on two post outside the box in order to not have to take the cover off. (Also has a strapping system that comes with it to ty it down to the boat. Then it has an LED (I think) voltage gauge that you simply turn everything off, hit the button on top and it tells by way of little light what condition the battery is in, Full, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4 or discharged. It gets better; It also has a plug for a lighter type plug that you can hook accessesories up to. Or plug a small trickle charger into to help maintain the battery. All this for $39.00 http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=45202&hvarDept=200&hvarEvent=&hvarClassCode=3&hvarSubCode=4&hvarTarget=browse The description does not tell the whole story. I did notice the two negative reviews. What does anyone think about that? Thanks Jack Hart SEA-YA!

Connection issues

I had multiple discussions with ProTech about how to hook up a charger on a sail boat. Hunter typically/frequently/occasionally/always maybe? wires the charger to the battery switch. The charger manufacturer says that the charger (+ output)should be wired straight to the battery so the charger can sense the battery voltage for float determination. With that issue in mind, you need to consider how the wiring would run from the charger to the battery. No doubt there are some boats/applications where the box you saw are ideal. I have found a digital volatage meter that plugs into the cigarette lighter to be pretty usefull. I just have to check bank one, check bank two, and check All.
