Batteries Plus??

I am replacing my factory installed 4D's this week as a preventative measure before we take off on an extended cruise. they are 6 yrs old and although in okay condition I don't want to be replacing batteries out there.
As a long time follower of MS, I found a ready source for the Duracell (Deka/EP) GC2s at BatteriesPlus (no luck at Costco, Sams around here) and was ready to pull the trigger on 4. However after a little googling, the reviews of BP are a bit disconcerting. I know they are franchises so mileage may vary. I also know enough to check and get the same lot number, fresh batteries, tested at the store etc. So now I'm wondering whether spending an extra $40/per on Rolls 6v's which are local here is a safer choice? The warranty difference alone may be worth it, but hoping to keep this to strictly those who have dealt with BP.
I'm really just looking for experiences with Batteries Plus as a source. Thanks in advance...

Jon - Our boats really are close in chronological age! I just took delivery yesterday of a pair of Lifeline 4D's to replace my OEM flooded batteries. I'd hoped to get through the season on the old ones, but like yours they were rapidly showing signs of impending failure. Decided to go the 4D route for simplicity, and with AGMs to complete the upgrades to my charging system from last winter (140 amp alt, new Sterling charger, completely reworked wiring). Sorry I can't help with BP - just thought it was interesting that we're doing this at the same time.

I purchased 2 4D's AGMs last year at BP on Long Island. The batteries came from the local Deka warehouse. I think they were labeled "Duracell". Everything went well.

See if you have a Denka dealer, or Taylor & Crowe dealer close! You can sometimes get blems for a quarter of new!

Thanks all. The Rolls distributor is also a Deka, Lifeline, Exide and Full River distributor. Spent a couple of hours with them and ended up with the Rolls 6V 220AH batteries (4 for my House) and I have a Reseve that did not need replacing.
It ended up being piece of mind for an extra $35 per battery not to mention a much better warranty.

There is a woman at my local BP store who is EXTREMELY knowledgeable and helpful. I bought a Duracell/Deka from her a couple years ago, and I go there for bulk buys of AA's and such. So no complaints with BP here.
