Hi,all. I'm biting the bullet and taking my '88 H285 hull down to bare fiberglas and doing the Interlux 2000 barrier coat job (good time of year and I have an extra week of vacation I need to burn!). I plan on stripping the little paint I have on her while she's on the cradle, then moving her onto some jackstands so I can do under the cradle arms, but the big question is...if I put 4-5 coats of barrier coat under the cradle arms over the span of 2 days, how long does she need to dry before I can lower her onto the cradle in order to do under the jackstand pads? I hope a couple of days' drying time is enough! Also, is there anything I should put petween the new barrier coat and the cradle arms? Plastic sheets? Wax Paper? Any ideas????

I did that job on my H356 last winter. Why I an not sure because I traded her in this summer. The label on the Interlux can tells the drying times. The warmer the faster. I recommend getting a really good orbital sander for helping with the removal. A high pressure power washer did take alot of our old paint off. Also, I tried the chemical peel and that did take off quite a bit of the old stuff. You will go through alot of rags and paint thinner to wipe it all down. If you spray on the barrier coat you will get a smoother finish. I actually did all of the prep and then had Larsen Marine do the barrier coat and the VC-17 applications. Call me if you have any questions. My bottom job just seems like a bad dream now. If I had a week off, I would find some friends to go sailing with and pay someone to do the bottom job.
