Barnacle Buster

Anybody used the barnacle buster product to clean raw water exchange?

Good afternoon! We use it here at work all the time to clean raw water exchanges. Just make sure you have a way to flush the system with Barnacle Buster with enough pressure. Also be sure to run a secondary flush with fresh water to clean out any remaining Barnacle Buster. Hope this helps!

I can't circulate through system, would you let it sit (Barnacle Buster) for a couple hours and then fresh water flush?

I did circulate into ac unit with barnacle buster and it worked real good and will try same thing
with my Yanmar heat exchanger.

Heat exchanger is better to be removed and serviced by a radiator shop. The will clean all the tubes and then pressure test the unit to make sure all is operational.

Pumped in fresh water through Raw Water Strainer about 15 gallons just to flush and then pumped the 5 gallon mixture of
Barnacle Buster in and let set for 4 hours and flushed the system good again. Opened up the Raw Water Exchange and it looked
very clean. Did the job and fairly easy to do; at least I could get to it without being on my head.

I use "Kleen Strip Concrete Etch, Metal Prep and Rust Inhibitor" from Home Depot. It's phosphoric acid, just like barnacle Buster only 2/3 the price.

Barnicle Buster is Phosphoric acid so you can likely get it cheaper in the cleaner section of Home Depot.
