Barlow Winch Question

I recently purchased an '86 O'Day 272. It is equipped with 1 Barlow 15 winch, and 2 Barlow 19 self-tailing winches - all of which are in bad shape and in need of service. Does anyone know where I can get winch kits for these models? I've only been able to find one company that advertises replacement parts for Barlow winches (ARCO out of Australia), but they have not responded to my information requests.Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.-Jack

Winch Repair/Rebuild Kits

I've been told by others that Lewmar parts will work. I personally don't know about the Barlows, but Lewmar parts worked in my Barients on my previous boat. If you need manuals, I can FAX or snail-mail them to you.Cheers,Bob

Australia's the way

Hi - I've tried the Lewmar route as well as Boat US specialty shops and about 10 other places. I have 5 Barlow winches and the only place to go is the Australian yacht Winch Co., they respond to their website inquiries and can be reached via phone at 61 2 9688 or by writing to The Australian Yacht Winch Co. Pty, Ltd., 4-11 Stoddart Rd, Prospect, NSW 2149 Australia.Good Luck, all I needed was winch jaws for a Barlow 24 self tailing winch, it took me 2 months to locate these guys in Australia, but they seem to be the only people that carry them.Jim
