GPSC
Bob,I was involved with a sailing school who did a couple charters in Greece. We utilized GPSC (Greek Private Sailing Charters) to supply the boats. Unfortunately, I think they are out of business. They offered bareboat and crewed charters. We opted for the bareboat and hired a guide/interpreter along with this. Our own people, including myself, captained the boats. These were 40-55' boats and our party was usually about 12-15 people. The trip was 10 days or 2 weeks and I don't think you could do it in less than that by using our method. Since a trip to Greece is a once-in-a-lifetime trip for most we spent the first few days in Athens doing day trips after a direct flight from New York. Then down to Pireaus for the boats. We traveled to various islands spending each night in a different place. Interestingly, after we got out of Athens, prices were quite reasonable. We never anchored out. Each night was spent on a Med moor in some seaport. This was 10 years ago, so I'm not sure of current prices but I know the company is still in business. I think I remember the cost per person to be somewhere around $2600 for air and boat but no food. This summer is the olympics so you should be mindfull of the changes that will bring.
