Baltimore to Va Beach?

Curious if anyone has a trailer that would be capable of hauling an O'day 22. The boat is in Baltimore and I live in Virginia Beach. I was considering sailing it down the Bay but since I must get the boat to Virginia Beach before Thanksgiving, I decided to seek an alternative should the weather not be favorable for the 5 day voyage I plan on. So this goes to anyone in the area from the Outer Banks to Baltimore...I would appreciate it. And if anyone would be kind enough to loan me the trailer, but there happens to be a boat sitting on it right now, I live on the water and have a launch ramp in the backyard not even 100 feet from our dock. Thanks. email caesar4va@hotmail.com

Wow, if you had been sailing since last Saturday, you would have had a fantastic Fall trip down the Bay. Too bad.

WHY not just go ahead and SAIL IT...THANKGIVING is far enough away that you have plenty of TIME...pack a lunch, a few blankets...plan your PORT STOPS...and ENJOY !! BUT ONLY >> (If you know the reliability of the boat, and know how to sail, and know the way, and know this may be the only CHOICE). Good Luck & Happy Sailing !

brrrrrr....

22' foot on the bay can be a blast mid-summer. In November, I think you're pushing it to ride it down the bay. Get the trailer!

Suggestion

That's a mighty big favor to ask a stranger - I'd call some of the small (ish) boat dealers in the area and see if they'll rent you a trailer for a day...they may even rather move the boat for a reasonable, flat fee...

Good idea

This boat is a purchase within the past month. I have sailed many of this class size, including a cruise with a buddy and his Oday 22 around the Bay and up to Tangier Island. It was a great boat for that cruise mid-summer! Yes, November makes it a little hairy in this size boat, and I need to be cautious with the weather. I will concede, the week of the Schooner Race was very tempting (give me 5 more feet of waterline!). I have now made at least the month's worth of planning and weather watching plus my knowledge of the Bay. I would absolutely love to sail but everything has to work out, and so I need a backup plan. Great idea on checking out dealers, drew, I had not thought of that. Thank you all.

Trailers for hire

Around my area, there are 'boat repair' guys who trailer boats for a fee, among many other tasks. It may be your best bet at this point. I was suppose to take a boat up to Philadelphia this weekend but I can't get the time off from work now. Riding the small craft warnings down the Bay now would be fast, but I wouldn't do it in an unknown boat.
