Summer 2003 Bahamas, Wow what a great time to cruise the Islands, We left Norfolk VA. May 30, Arrived West End June 21.Be sure you have your dog papers inline before you get here, I had to rent a car and drive to freeport when I arrived because my wife did not have the correct dog permit. After sailing allnight I was not expecting to have to drive on the left first thing in the morning. And the nice people in the Bahamas are not to good at giving directions. Ate at BurgerKing. Went thru all of the Abacos,Green Turtle Cay, Can you say Party at Pineapples? We stayed at Petes Pub at little Harbor 3 days! Well what do you expect, we could only go thru the "channel" at high tide. and we arrived ther July 3rd. Spanish Wells, OK we were there, Eluthra, Cat Island,Hawks Nest Resort has an Honor Bar, I am talking about a fully stocked fullsize Bar, Bar. That was good for another 3 days. Wow I am glad I had AMEX with me. Crossed to George town Exumas and worked our way north crossed to Fresh Creek Andros , went to Morgans Bluff, Crossed to Bimini, Got Lobsters there, Went back to Fla August 1. went back north and stopped at Myrtle Beach left boat there till Oct. and brought it home to GreatBridge for some repairs. We had lots of people say we were foolish for going there in the summer, but if you watch the weather and be smart it is much better than winter. Not so crowded and not as hot as I feared. Nice breeze blowing 10 to 15 out of SE most of the time and we only hit 2 or 3 squals, blowing 40 to 70 MPH for a few minutes. Exumas are beautiful. You must have a good dingy to explore the areas. not a silly inflatable. We had one of these and also a 17 Boston whaler so we could really explore.
