Bad to the Core

I have always written off the talk about Hunter boats weak construction. I have a 81 36', and these boats just appear stronger than the new boats. BUT! I started rebedding, and refinishing all of the teak on the boat. While working on the companion way frame I noticed that the boat has NO core material! Just the inner and outer fiberglass. As a note, I performed similar work on my Catalina 25' years ago. The boat was solid a a rock, 3 -4" thick core material through out. Oh well she sails like a dream! Just hope she can handle a move to Blue water in the next year. She has been inland her entire life as far as I know. A move to Florida may be in our very near future...

Well...

Well, think how much easier it is to pull wires within the boat without all that nasty filler :)
