We just finished restoring a 77 Venture 222. The backstay is loose and at the end of its turnbuckle. Looking for sugestions for tighting. Resize to a smaller turnbuckle or have stay shortened and recrimped. Also, any sugestions for waxing over Pettits Easypoxy. I want the new paintjob to last. Trailer sailing only boat is not in water for more than acouple of days at a time. Thanks in advance, Eric

No wax yet, Norseman fittings.
You don't want to use any wax for at least a year, two if possible. Just keep the boat washed down with fresh water. I painted my Columbia Sabre over two years ago with Interlux Brightsides and it looks brand new. Wax over uncured paint can cause problems later that you want to avoid. (repainting) As far as the back stay tension goes, check the rake on the mast, and make sure that it's in column (straight up and down). If it is, the easiest fix would be to shorten the backstay and use a Norseman Fitting. These are designed for DIY'ers and on on water repairs. They probably sell them here.
