Back Stay Modification

I have a Hunter 25.5 sailboat with an Edson wheel, the back stay rubs my shoulder when standing at the wheel. I would like to reconfigure the way the back stay connects to the stern by inserting a stainless steel A-frame with some built-in's like a seat and maybe a rod holder. Anyone ever see something like this I could copy or does anyone have any suggestions?Thanksjoe

Split backstay

I have thought about asking a local rigger if my 25.5 could be safely and easily converted to a split backstay to allow one of the backstay adjusting cars and also in case I ever decided to convert to wheel steering.Do either of you have any pictures of the wheel steering that you could share. I have thought about this conversion but wasn't sure it would be worth the expense.Thanks,Dan
