Hello all: Need advice. (Apologies if this has been asked and answered)

Engine WesterbekeB30 on B361 1700hrs suddenly has chipping noise from the cockpit gauges area and sound comes on WITH the "Oil Presure" LIGHT blinking.
BUT everything else is OK, engine runs smooth, oil presure gauge reads 40, no noise in engine room (only in cockpit from the gauges area).
Noise gets lsounder with higher revs. Sound suddenly disappear (oil light also stop blinking)and sound (and oil light) comes back on after a few seconds and is continuous.

Was just a "chik, chik chik" soft noise last week now about 15dbs! goes off when idling!

Please help!!!

Call a mechanic or an electrician? Anyone can recommend a good one in Vancouver?

Most greatful thanks.

Guan.

It sounds like your oil pressure is fine, but you have either a loose connection on your oil pressure warning sensor or a bad sensor. My first guess would be a loose connection since it appears to be intermittent. The oil pressure warning sensor for the light and horn is easy to check on the 30 B. It's on the lower left side of the front of the motor. There are two wires connected to it. Check the connection and clean the contacts. You can also check the connection on the rear of the gauge cluster by removing the access cover in the aft berth. If connections are good, the sensor is easy to replace.
