Hello all I am looking into purchasing a Ben 343 with the pivoting wheel system. The dealers are quoting a Raymarine ST600 pilot for that boat but I would also like to know if a raymarine ST400 wheel pilot will work with this boat and the pivotting wheel system. Any ussfull comments on the B343 appreciated I currently own a B311 so I do have experience of the Beneteau brand etc Many thanks Paul Amble U.K

ST600 autopilot v. ST400

I understand that Beneteau has determined an adaptation of the ST400 autopilot. While initially this may cost less, I would cast a vote for the ST600. My Beneteau 323 which has the same wheel setup as the 343 has the ST600. It is a clean installation, and calibration was easy. It has absolutely no difficulty in maintaining a steady course and when set up properly does not overcompensate.

No comparison!

I have owned both systems and while each has performed exceptionally well, the ST6000 is beyond exceptional. It is much smoother, more accurate, more powerful and in the long run I believe it will be less of a maintenance problem. Jim
