Our 2000 B331 has the same rudder rub on the starboard hull near the rudder post as described in some posts from a few years ago. We also have asymmetrical steering stops as also described, ie, the wheel can be turned farther to port than to starboard from neutral rudder (about 15 degrees of wheel turn). We need all the starboard rudder we can get to get into our slip.
The fix for this seems to be realigning the quadrant and adjusting(?) the space between the top of the rudder and the hull. How is the rudder allowed to be adjusted up and down?

No vertical adjustment

I had rudder problems a couple of years ago. In removing the rudder, I learned there is no adjustment up and down. There is an aluminum collar and pin that goes through the rudder shaft to hold it in place. The collar rests on a plastic rudder tube. See picture 9.

Yes, the rudder alignment is adjusted at the yoke/quadrant.

Re: No vertical adjustment

I have the same port /starboard imbalance in my steering, I have less turn to port than to starboard but there does not seem to be a lot of adjustment room in the quadrant. Does anyone else have experience with this.

I had the same problem but found a nylon stop block for the quadrant had slid over to one side. It took a bit of fiddling to find the sweet spot but know I get equal travel port to starboard. If I remember correctly the nylon block is attached to the hull at the back side of the quadrant. Removing the wood panels at the very back of the aft birth.

Sir Charles
Thanks for the advice. Took the back panels off yesterday and sure enough the block had slipped to one side. Since i am out of the water at this time was able to determine the amount of adjustment required. It took about three attempts at re-aligning it but i think if is almost perfect. Cant wait to get in the water next weekend and test the results. Thanks again for the advice.
