Anyone with experience using one of these? Thinking of pairing w/a WS320 wind unit to go clutter free.

I installed the Vulcan 9 last season. I love it. I also installed a new DST-800 transducer and a wired B&G wind transducer. My mast height was too high for wireless. You can go without the nmea2000 speed transducer if you can figure out how to change the setting for apparent wind angle to calculate off SOG instead of speed over water- I still haven't found it yet but I was told it does exist. One great feature is the "link" app that allows you to mirror the screen to a phone or tablet. It's great for racing, the crew can see what the helmsman sees. When cruising, I can set waypoints and routes for the next day's trip from the comfort of the nav desk.

l have a Zues2 a predecessor to the Vulcan. B&G makes good gear. The sailing features, once you figure them out, are helpful.

With the Link App the screen can be mirrored to a tablet or phone and the features can be controlled. Handy if you have an autopilot and don't want to sit behind the helm or for others to see the screen anywhere on the boat.

C-Map the charting company is owned by Navico. There is a nice Webb based charting app that will sync waypoints and routes between the Vulcan, a tablet based app, and the web app.

FYI, there was a release of the B&G App last fall that had a significant bug. That bug has been fixed in the latest release a week or so ago.

The Vulcan will default to the gps speed (SOG) if there is no transducer for STW. You can also indicate a preference by clicking on the TWS box, or TWD box, or going to device settings.
